Vegetarian Pad Thai Recipe | How to make at Home

The main ingredients of the vegetarian pad Thai recipe are rice noodles, vegetables, and tofu. In Thailand, it is a popular street food, and most Thai restaurants can be found serving it. Here in this article, we are sharing how to make Vegetarian Pad Thai at home using only vegetarian ingredients.

Ingredients:

• 8 ounces of rice noodles 

• 1/4 cup vegetable oil 

• 1/4 cup onion pieces 

• 1/4 cup diced carrots 

• 1/4 cup chopped capsicum (bell pepper)

• 1/4 cup diced tofu 

• 2 cloves of garlic, minced 

• 1/4 cup tamarind sauce 

• 2 tbsp soy sauce 

• 1 tbsp sugar 

• 2 thinly sliced green onions 

• 1/4 cup each of chopped peanuts 

• 1/4 cup chopped coriander (cilantro) leaves 

Directions:

1. To soften the rice noodles, soak them in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes. Drain then set apart.

2. Add the vegetable oil to a pan set over medium heat. Then add the capsicum (bell pepper), onion, and carrot when it has heated up. Cook the vegetables for 2 to 3 minutes, or until they start to soften. Add the sliced ​​tofu and minced garlic, and cook for another minute or two.

3. Mix sugar, soy sauce, and tamarind sauce in a small bowl. Add the mixture to the pan with the tofu and vegetables. Add the softened rice noodles and stir everything until the noodles are completely covered in the sauce. Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes, or until the noodles are thoroughly heated.

4. Turn off the heat and stir in the coriander (cilantro) leaves, peanuts, and green onions.

Note:

• If preferred, top the hot pad thai with more peanuts, cilantro, and lime wedges.

• You can add any vegetables you like, including cabbage and bean sprouts, and you can change the ingredients of the sauce to your taste.
